SCADA and HMI specialists develop supervisory control and operator interface systems for industrial automation environments. Their work focuses on visualisation, real-time data acquisition, alarm management, trending, and reporting — sitting above the PLC control layer and connecting to field devices via OPC UA, Modbus, PROFINET, and other industrial protocols. Unlike DCS specialists, they do not design the underlying control logic, and unlike MES specialists, their scope does not extend to production order management or ERP integration.
